It is one week before our 2016 El Hogar team leaves for Tegucigalpa in Honduras. We are excited and as well as the regulars, we take along Jane and Andrea for the first time and are so happy to have them with us.  Today, the St Luke's team was commissioned by Canon Pike and Rev Siteman and we have deeply felt the support of our church family and of the prayers that our congregations and friends have said for our team.  Elliott's sermon today reflected the depth of the words of Psalm 23 and that our team be sent out with the words from the psalm to fill our soul.  His encouragement and prayer for our team was to "bring about hope and love in this world, that we be guided by the great shepherd of the sheep, and that we live the vows we have made to the best of our abilities.  That Jesus be our shepherd and guide, where we will let Him show us the way to truly live lives of love and hope."  Thank you Elliott for that.

The interesting thing is that Erika reports that when she worshiped in her church at Tegucigalpa today, that their sermon was also on the 23rd psalm.  There is an extra feeling of connection when we share in the lectionary in Anglican Communion no matter where we worship or even what country we worship in.

After church we packed all the donations that we have received from the congregation as well as hygiene products, supplies for our work projects, activities for the kids and craft supplies that we will use there this week.

We especially enjoyed packing up the hand made dolls and the dozens of finger puppets made by some special and enthusiastic ladies in the church.

Stay tuned as we will try to keep posts on this blog while we are away and appreciate your prayers.
