Tuesday 17 April at El Hogar and the Technical Institute

After a typical North American breakfast (cornflakes & bananas), the team divided with 8 going to the Technical institute & 4 staying to work in the classrooms observing & helping students.

Lynn, our primary school specialist, was charged with observing designated students to give some ideas of how to deal with children with behavioural problems and learning disabilities - a real challenge!  She is putting together individual education plans for designated children.   Tomorrow more members will hone their Spanish skills by listening to children read.  Do you know what an osito is??

At the technical school, we continued to work on building the security wall, mixing cement, mortor, building rebar bundles, and hauling bricks.  Some of the boys pitched in to help as well.

In the evening we had a successful evening of crafts with the girls making mosaics, jewelled boxes,  gimp bracelets and crayon rubbings.  It was gratifying to see their focus and enjoyment of the activities.

The evening ended with a popcorn snack  for all 100 kids and teachers that we had made earlier.
